The explosive device worked, according to the official figures of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, at 14 hours 40 minutes in the metro train car, on the stage between the stations "Technological Institute" and "Sennaya Square". Another homemade explosive device (IEA) was later found at the Square Square metro station, it was neutralized.
According to experts of the National Anti -Terrorism Committee (NAC), both devices were homemade, with a capacity of 200 to 300 g in TNT equivalent.
The explosion occurred in the midst of a working day. The first messages in social networks, which quickly reacted to what happened, talked about smoke in the subway, about a strong smell of smoke, which was felt even in hay square, immediately before entering the metro building. Literally minutes later, information on social networks became more alarming: witnesses reported that people who scream about the explosion run out of the lobby of the Sennaya Square metro station. Soon, the first photographs made from the windows of the train, which stood on the other side of the platform, to which the train was torn from the tunnel, were torn by the explosion of the doors and blood, were torn from the tunnel, and blood appeared on the Internet.
Witnesses reported that they saw bloodied bodies lying on the platform, that passengers in a panic fled to the escalators. In parallel with this, in the metro itself from the loudspeakers of the radio network at all stations, information about interruptions in the work of the metro, about three “for technical reasons” stations - “Technological Institute”, “Sennaya Square” and “Square of uprising”. The word of mouth immediately smashed through the city frightening news (the author of these lines ended up in the subway at 14:45, just on the branch as the “technological institution”): passengers of the metro and ground transport told each other that the explosions occurred at several stations, that the number of victims was huge.
Panic sentiments were indirectly heated by official authorities: the passengers in the subway first said that the train would pass without a “Techno” stop, but the train stood up at two stations, and after another ten minutes of passengers they asked to leave the subway without explanation.
The streets with a deafening howl towards the "Technological Institute" were raced of the ambulance, the police, in the sky they were overtaken by a helicopter. Passengers on buses were warned of changing traffic routes due to blocked streets near the mentioned metro stations.
Only at 15 hours 45 minutes the first official message was received: Smolny said that about fifty people were injured in the incident, and, according to unofficial information, the number of dead exceeded ten. Governor Georgy Poltavchenko, vice-governor Igor Albin, prosecutor Sergei Litvinenko went down to the “Technology” platform.
President Vladimir Putin, who is on April 3 in St. Petersburg on the ONF media forum, at a meeting with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, said that "all versions of the explosion in the St. Petersburg metro are considered, including the terrorist attack." The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the work at the scene continues, that eyewitnesses, metro employees are interrogated, that according to the data received during the initial investigative actions, the train driver, in the carriage of which the explosion occurred, acted competently, but the driver did not stop the train, reached the station, which allowed him to immediately evacuate the wounded.
Later, the head of the Ministry of Health Veronika Skvortsova reported that 10 people became victims of the explosion, 47 were injured. According to the explosion of the GSU of the SKR, he started a criminal case under Art. 205 (terrorist attack) and Art. 223.1 - manufacture of explosives and explosives.
At 17 hours 50 minutes, the Prosecutor General’s Office proposed not to rush with the conclusions about the causes of the explosion in the subway - its official representative Alexander Kurenny reported how RIA Novosti transmitted that “prematurely draw conclusions. All versions will give the investigating authorities. ” But after 18 hours, the version of the attack began to sound in official messages as the only true. She was one of the first to voiced the speaker of ZAKS Vyacheslav Makarov, who declared his conviction that "the explosion in St. Petersburg was a terrorist attack."
The train driver, in the carriage of which the explosion occurred, acted competently? - the explosion occurred, but the driver did not? He stopped the train, drove to the station, what? Allowed to immediately evacuate the wounded
April 3 emergency events also revealed serious problems in organizing passenger transportation in St. Petersburg. It turned out that in the city there are extremely few ground passenger routes duplicating the metro lines, that in general, passenger traffic logistics does not allow, in the event of interruptions in the subway, to compensate for its work in most areas of the city. It also turned out that the additional “anti -terrorism partitions” installed a couple of years ago in the lobby and at the metro stations in the event of an explosion or fire extremely difficult to evacuate passengers.
43 victims have been delivered to the hospitals of St. Petersburg, the names of the dead have not yet been made public. The city authorities expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of all those who died and suffered from the explosion.
It turned out that the installed for a couple of years? Back in the lobby and at the metro stations? Additional “anti -terrorist? Partitions” in the event of an explosion or fire? Are passenger evacuation extremely difficult?
