For employees of the Belorechensk educational colony accused of beating teenagers, sentences from 4 to 13 years were requested

In the Belorechensky City Court of the Krasnodar Territory, the prosecutor asked for 4 to 13 years in prison for employees of the Belorechensky educational colony accused of beating teenagers. Lawyer Andrei Sabinin, who collaborates with the human rights organization “Zone of Law,” told Medizaon about this.

According to Sabinin, the prosecutor demanded that the acting head of the correctional institution, Vladislav Ivanov, be sentenced to 5 years in prison, Arsen Shamkhalov - to 13 years, Andrei Krivolapov - to 12, Pavel Gritsina and Valery Zadneprovsky - to 5, Roman Bersenev - to 4.5 , Valery Savchenko, Musa Allaev and Sergei Labinsky - to 4 years, and operational duty officer Sergei Andriyashchenko - to 4 years of suspended imprisonment.

Of the ten accused, four were in custody, the rest were under house arrest. According to investigators , Ivanov gave several orders, including turning off video cameras and allowing guards into the colony at night.

On the evening of November 24, 2015, duty officer Andriyashchenko, on the instructions of the head of the colony, Ivanov, allowed guards and operatives into the colony. They were supposed to beat the new students and have “individual conversations” with them. The guards and an employee of the department of educational work, Zadneprovsky, “for the purpose of secrecy and intimidation of the convicts” put balaclavas on their heads.

Seven teenagers, including 16-year-old Vitaly Pop, were beaten in the detention center, had their heads plunged into the toilet, and were forced to urinate on each other. In addition, the colony staff forced them to do physical exercises and insulted them.

Shamkhalov and Krivolapov inflicted at least 17 blows to Pop's vital organs; he died from a traumatic brain injury. Other teenagers were seriously injured.
