In the Krasnodar Territory, 32-year-old Sergei Mukhin died in February 2017, who was beaten a year earlier during a sparring session when he joined the local OMON unit. This is reported by the publication "Region online" with reference to his relatives.
As follows from the publication, at the beginning of 2016, Sergei Mukhin passed the standards for admission to the OMON and took part in three battles with the current employees of the unit. According to his relatives, he broke the leg of one of the rivals, and knocked out the other.
To successfully pass all the tests, Mukhin needed to retake the run. The exam was scheduled for May, but he was called to the OMON base on February 29, where he was put up for battle against an opponent who was significantly superior in weight to him. During the fight, he fell and hit his head, but the opponent did not stop and continued to hit him on the head.
Mukhin was taken to a hospital in Krasnodar unconscious; it turned out that his skull was fractured and cerebral edema began. He underwent several operations and spent two months in a coma. Later he was discharged home. According to relatives, he had to learn to walk again. In February 2017, he died in the hospital, where he ended up due to complications.
After the fight, the police conducted a check, but found no grounds for initiating a case. After the death of Mukhin, the case, as the article says, "completely stalled." Representatives of the regional department of the Investigative Committee told TASS that they were conducting a pre-investigation check.
