The court arrested the former head of Udmurtia

The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested the former head of Udmurtia Alexander Solovyov, who was detained on the morning of April 4 in Izhevsk on suspicion of taking bribes in the amount of 139 million rubles.

Solovyov pleaded not guilty and refused to testify, the investigator said at the court session.

Solovyov himself asked to be sent under house arrest. The investigator objected to this, since the former governor, according to him, has housing in Spain.

• The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation accuses Alexander Solovyov of taking bribes in the amount of 139 million rubles from companies that built bridges across the Kama and Bui rivers. In addition to money, he received a stake in the company worth 2.7 million rubles.
• In return, according to investigators, Solovyov was supposed to provide "extraordinary and immediate" payment for the work and obtain licenses for geological work.
• Alexander Solovyov became head of Udmurtia in 2014. After the appearance of information about the initiation of a criminal case, the President of the Russian Federation removed him from office. Secretary of the Public Chamber Alexander Brechalov has been appointed Acting Head of Udmurtia.
