In the city of Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region, a gray seal calf ended up on the embankment and could not return to the water. A local resident guarded the seal calf from curious passers-by for three hours until specialists took it to a safe environment, the newspaper Vestnik Baltiyska reports .
The Baltic seal pup was spotted by residents of Baltiysk on the morning of April 4 on the shore of the Kaliningrad Sea Canal. The men fed him herring and began calling various services with reports of the lost animal.
As Klops.ru reports , a local resident named Anatoly, waiting for the specialist to arrive, guarded the cub for three hours from curious passers-by on the embankment.
Thanks to the large number of calls, several organizations took part in rescuing the baby seal: the administration of Baltiysk and the city veterinary service, the Kaliningrad Zoo and Rosprirodnadzor, as well as the Municipal Budgetary Institution “Blagoustroistvo”. The Baltic seal pup was loaded into a car using special devices and taken to a safe environment.
Earlier, in 2016, a baby seal died on Sakhalin after it ended up on the seashore in a crowded place. Passers-by with dogs approached the sealed seal cub to take selfies in front of him, and later he was beaten with sticks by children.
