More than 700 residents of Novosibirsk rallied against the construction of a landfill in the river basin

In Novosibirsk, about 700 people rallied against the construction of a landfill in the Izdrevaya River basin. Local residents are outraged by the possible construction on the territory of a unique natural site, where rare plants listed in the Red Book have been preserved for many years. This was reported by the Social Information Agency.

According to the agency, residents of river villages fear that if the project is approved by the authorities, many Novosibirsk residents will be forced to live next to the landfill. Local environmentalists fear that the emergence of a landfill will cause an environmental disaster in the region. Now it is still not known whether the garbage will be sorted or simply taken to the Izdreva pool.

“This territory deserves a different fate. This must be either a natural park, since it is a specially protected natural area, or a nature reserve. Legislation provides for such forms, this is how development should be,” said one of the organizers of the rally, Yulia Kolevatova.

In addition, the rally participants claim that the new project could negatively affect the economy of the region. It is assumed that the regional budget will have to compensate the entrepreneur for all lost income during the construction work of the landfill.

“It makes no sense for him to work, because if he processes garbage and receives revenue of two billion rubles, he spends some amount of this on processing, and if he does not recycle, then all his proceeds go to net profit, as a direct subsidy. What kind of entrepreneur would work under such conditions? This is strange, this is suspicious,” said rally participant Olesya Valger.

Representatives of the region's aviation also spoke out against the construction of the test site. They fear that the appearance of a landfill near the airfield of the Chkalovsky plant will attract large concentrations of birds, which will create significant problems for air travel.

During the action, a resolution was adopted demanding that the landfill be moved to another location.
