Advisor to the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party Sergei Mamaev commented on the resignation of the head of Mari El Leonid Markelov:
- Just a few hours ago, a message was published on the website of the President of the Russian Federation that Leonid Markelov left the post of head of Mari El “of his own free will”. Of course, it was unlikely that his resignation was “of his own free will” - people like Markelov are used to holding on to power to the end. However, over the “last of the Medici clan,” as they called him in the republic, apparently, the threat loomed in “places not so distant”.
The Communists have repeatedly warned that Markelov is noteworthy not so much with its extravagant behavior as corruption transactions: the republic was actually cut between his family members. In 2015, in co -authorship with retired foreign intelligence colonel Mikhail Dolgov, I prepared an analytical study on the corruption frauds of the Markelov clan, thousands of requests for law enforcement agencies were sent. This gave the result, although skeptics constantly kept repeating: Leonid Markelov will be in power forever. I believe that Markelov’s resignation is the natural result of the long -term struggle of the residents of the republic with its schizophrenic regime of corruption, lies, theft and violence.
For example, in what way Markelov tried to become President Mari El in the far 1996. Then the State Duma deputy Galina Starovoitov in a note addressed to the head of the Russian Presidential Administration Anatoly Chubaisa wrote: “The situation in the republic is extremely tense. Supporters of Leonid Markelov drive around the villages and threaten to burn the village if the village votes against him. Clapses are expected between supporters of L. Markelov and V. Kislitsyn in the city of Yoshkar-Ola. ” Having gained 29.21% of the vote, Markelov lost the election, losing to Vyacheslav Kislitsyn. This is open and official information published on Wikipedia in an article on Leonid Markelov.
Most likely, the election of the head of Mari El will take place in September of this year. I would like to hope that the acting acting head of the republic, Alexander Evstifyev, will ensure a normal electoral process within the framework of the legislation with the equal participation of candidates of all parliamentary political parties. After all, the general poverty of the inhabitants of Mari El, corruption and lawlessness of officials are the result of Markelov’s dictatorship, who sought his power by all possible means, including by falsification of elections.
