Cherchesov plans to compete for the Confederations Cup

The Russian national football team should compete for winning the Confederations Cup - 2017, said the head coach of the team Stanislav Cherchesov.

The tournament will be held from June 17 to July 2, 2017 on four arenas: in Kazan, Sochi, St. Petersburg and Moscow.

“You can say anything, but at the Confederations Cup we will check not only the stadiums,” Cherchesov said at the conference of the Russian Football Union. “Our task is to prepare a team to be competitive. Football - sports, sport - the result. The Cup of Confederations is a certain preparation for the World Cup, but I personally take it as a serious tournament. One for this cup. We must compete.

Cherchesov headed the Russian team after the 2016 European Championship. Under his leadership, the team spent seven matches at the current moment, having won two victories, tied twice and losing three meetings.
