Donald Trump officially notified Congress of missile strikes in Syria

US President Donald Trump sent an official notification to the US Congress of military strikes in Syria. The head of the White House substantiated the need for these strokes with the interests of national security and the foreign staff of the United States. Trump emphasized the need to stabilize the situation in the region and the desire to avoid "deepening the humanitarian catastrophe" in Syria.

The Pentagon states that the Shayrat base, partially destroyed as a result of American missile strikes, was used by Syrian military-air forces on April 4 for a flight to the cities of Khan Sheikhun. At least 86 people became victims of the use of neuro-paralytic gas that day, according to the US military department.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who is expected to visit Moscow next week, said that he was disappointed with Russia's position, but was not surprised by the angry reaction of Moscow to American missile strikes on the Syrian air base.

British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson, condemning Moscow for supporting Assad, announced the abolition of a visit to Moscow previously planned on April 10. Johnson called the development of events in Syria a "fundamental change in the situation." Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavush oglu said that the US missile strikes in Syria will remain "cosmetics" if Assad is not removed from power. Saudi King Salman congratulated Trump in a telephone conversation on the adoption of a “bold decision” and, as he put it, “the correct answer” to Assad’s crimes against his people - in the light of the failure of international efforts to end the war.

Earlier, French President Francois Hollande and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel was responsible for the current development of the situation in Syria on the head of the Bashar al -Assad regime and at the same time called on the world community to work on the political decision of the Syrian crisis.
