In Egypt, terrorist attacks against Christians: two explosions in the city

In Egypt in the city of Tanta, two explosions occurred on Sunday morning: one at the Coptic Christian Church, the other at the center of training of police officers.

The first explosion thundered at the entrance to the church of Mar-Girgis. Today, Egyptian Christians, as in Russia, are noted by Palm Sunday, and many people are always gathering to serve in churches, TASS recalls.

According to the police, at least 21 people became victims of the explosion, more than 40 were injured, the Air Force reports.

It was originally reported that the explosion could occur inside the building, later the information was clarified: the bomb was detonated in the square in front of the church.

There are no details about the Sunday explosion in the training center for police at the time of writing a note.

TASS recalls that a week ago this training camp of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was already becoming an object of attack. Then, in the immediate vicinity of him, an explosive device worked. One policeman died, 16 were injured.

In December last year, in the Church of St. Peter on the territory of the Coptic Cathedral Complex in the Cairo district of Abbasia, a terrorist attack was committed. Then 26 people became victims of the explosion, about 50 were injured. The temple itself was caused by serious damage. After that, the authorities announced a significant strengthening of safety measures around all Christian temples.

Tanta is a city north of the capital of Egypt Cairo, the administrative center of the El Garbiya province in the central part of the Nile Delta. More than 400 thousand people live in it.
