
The first woman, who served as Minister of Defense of Spain, Karme Chakon died on Sunday at the age of 46. This was reported by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
The body of the ex-minister was found in her house in Madrid at 19:30 local time. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, however, according to the Spanish media, Chakon had heart problems.
Relatives could not get in touch with her for a long time, so they called the police, an ambulance and firefighters, the publication reports.

Karme Chakon was a deputy of the lower house of parliament from the Socialist Party of Spain from 2000 to 2007. In 2008, Chaacon took the post of Minister of Defense of the country, who retained until the end of 2011.
