As the police explained, the Russian is suspected of involvement in hacker attacks related to the US presidential election. According to his wife, Levashov was taken from all electronic devices.
“They said something about the fact that the virus that my husband allegedly created is connected with the victory [American leader Donald] Trump in the elections,” Levashova explained.
She added that the court in Barcelona held a meeting with the Madrid court, in which it was decided to detain the Russian.
Earlier in Spain, at the request of the FBI, a programmer from Taganrog Stanislav Lisov was detained . The Spanish police later specified that he was suspected of banking fraud.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, added that the United States put the Russian on the international wanted list for “participating in the criminal group”, which was created “to perform fraud using electronic tools and computer technology”.
Lisov’s lawyers informed RT that they received documents from the US Ministry of Justice demanding an extradition of their client. The American side estimates the damage from Lisov’s activities of $ 855 thousand, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
