A follower of Jehovah's Witnesses in Kuban was fined for extremist literature

A follower of a religious organization Jehovah's Witnesses from Gelendzhik was fined three thousand rubles, having been found guilty under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (storage for the purpose of mass distribution of extremist materials). This was reported on the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodar Territory.

“By the ruling of the Gelendzhik city court, upheld by the decision of the Krasnodar regional court, a resident of the city was found guilty of an administrative offense and brought to administrative responsibility in the form of a fine with confiscation of extremist materials,” the report says.

At the place of residence, followers of Jehovah's Witnesses found 38 books and brochures that are included in the federal list of extremist materials. The report emphasizes that the woman is an active follower of the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses, since photographs were found showing her participation in the organization's congresses.

On March 15, the Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit with the Verzov Court to recognize the Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia as an extremist organization and liquidate it. The SOVA Center considers attempts to liquidate organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses, persecution of members of their communities and bans of texts as religious discrimination.
