A 10-year-old girl died in the Omsk region after falling into a coma after being injected with lidocaine. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article “Causing death by negligence due to improper performance of professional duties,” the department’s press service reported .
According to investigators, on March 30, during treatment in the nephrology department of the children's city clinical hospital No. 3 of Omsk, the child fell into a coma after an injection due to severe allergies. Doctors did not check in advance that such a reaction could occur. On the morning of April 8, the girl died.
The prosecutor's office of the Omsk region is conducting an investigation. The department added that the health worker gave the child an intramuscular injection prescribed by the attending physician with a drug containing an antibiotic and lidocaine. Previously, according to doctors, he had already been given this drug, but intravenously and without lidocaine.
Last year, famous journalist Christina Hyde died in a hospital in Yakutia after an injection of lidocaine. In the fall of 2016, in the Kursk region, a 10-year-old schoolgirl died of anaphylactic shock after her relatives independently gave her an antibiotic injection for a cold.
