The studio of theatrical art was officially handed over to the state

President of the PIK group of companies Sergey Gordeev handed over the studio of theatrical art (STI) Sergey Zhenovach, located in the territory of the former factory belonging to Konstantin Alekseev (Stanislavsky).

“This is a new period for the theater, and I am sure that the theater will preserve the principles that were laid in it - always do the best,” TASS quotes Gordeeva. Gordeev also recalled that in total, he owned the theater for 10 years and noted that this project might not have been if he had not seen the production of Zhenovach “Boys” and did not change his mind to bring the production of Western stars to the theatrical space created.

According to the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, this is a "big gift that costs a lot of money."

“We had nationalization, but this is the first example in the history of Russia, when the theater is created for private funds, then it is given to Russia. It seems to me that this is a new page in our theater, ”the minister said.

Medinsky said that the theater will receive funding within the state assignment, and to have all the money earned at its discretion.

The theater art studio was founded in 2005 by Sergey Zhenovach and students of his workshop in GITIS. In 2008, the style had its own building on the territory of the Stanislavsky Factory complex, the restoration project of which received the Riba Award as the best international project of 2011. In July, at the College of the Ministry of Culture, it wasdecided to make a federal theater with an annual budget of about 80 million rubles.
