
The Krasnodar Regional Court today rejected the appeal of the defense of the farmer Oleg Petrov, accused of fraud, and left him under arrest until May 24. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" with reference to the lawyer Vladimir Shamshurov.
According to the lawyer, despite all the arguments of the defense and the personal guarantee of the head of the public movement “For Human Rights” Lev Ponomarev and the head of the Moscow Helsinsky group Lyudmila Alekseeva, the judge left Petrov under arrest until May 24.
Petrov was detained on the night of March 28-29 by police officers in connection with a criminal case on charges of fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 159). The farmer declared a hunger strike in protest against criminal prosecution. On the third of April, according to the “Caucasian Knot”, Petrov became worse , and no one was engaged in his health in the isolator.
Oleg Petrov is one of the organizers of the Tractor Marsh. The first "Tractor march" was held in August 2016. The column of farmers on tractors moved from the Krasnodar Territory to Moscow to tell Putin about her problems, but was blocked in the Rostov region, after which the participants were detained. Many of them were later subjected to administrative arrests.
On May 28, 2017, the next “Tractor March” was planned, but the farmers began to be delayed before the start of the march. On March 24, another organizer of the “Tractor March” Alexei Volchenko was arrested for 12 days, allegedly for non -payment of alimony. On March 28, they attacked journalists who were about to write about the failed march, stole equipment and beaten.
