The Duma offered to allow the police to shoot at women and in the crowd

The Chairman of the Duma Security Committee Vasily Piskarev and his first deputy Ernest Valeev (both are in the United Russia party) made amendments to the State Duma to the Federal Law on Police, which, in particular, propose to expand the right of police to use weapons.

Now the law prohibits shooting women. Deputies propose to supplement Part 5 of Art. 23 of the “Law on Police” with the words “with visible signs of pregnancy”. Accordingly, if a woman does not look, according to a policeman, pregnant, then it will be possible to shoot at her.

In addition, the bill proposes to allow the police to shoot in the crowd “in order to prevent (suppress) a terrorist act, release hostages, reflect a group armed attack on critical and potentially dangerous objects, buildings, premises, buildings or objects, buildings, premises, and structure of state authorities.”

According to the current standards, the police officer does not have the right to shoot in the crowd if random persons may suffer as a result. Employees of the FSB and the Russian Guard have such a right.

It is also proposed to supplement Part 1 of Article 30 of the “Law on Police” with two points that guarantee the “presumption of trust and support to the police officer” by the state and the fact that “the police officer is not subject to persecution for actions” if he has acted in accordance with the laws.
