The Federation Council proposed to demolish Khrushchevs throughout Russia

The Federation Council wants to spread the Moscow demolition program for old five -story buildings throughout the country.

According to senators, representatives of the northern regions, such as Komi, Karelia and the Arkhangelsk region, are especially interested in this.

“We believe that this topic is relevant not only for Moscow, but for the whole country, and in a number of regions there are five -story buildings that have been built even earlier than in the capital,” said Sergey Katanandov, a member of the Federation Council on the federal structure.

According to experts, almost 32 thousand five-story buildings remain in Russian millionaire cities, their demolition can cost a budget of 4–9 trillion rubles.

On February 21, 2017, President Vladimir Putin instructed the mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin to demolish the remaining Khrushchevs in the city and build new housing in their place. On March 11, a bill was submitted to the State Duma, allowing the residents of Khrushchev through the court to resettle residents, and on March 24, Moscow authorities decided on the first series of five -story buildings for demolition.
