"Mediazona" sued the Russian Foreign Ministry

Mediazon filed a lawsuit against the Presnensky court of Moscow against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. This was reported by RBC, at the disposal of which there is a statement of the publication.

As explained by the editor -in -chief of Mediazons Sergey Smirnov, the lawsuit was sent to court on April 7. The Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the situation.

The official representative of the Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the “Mediazones” “PR” “PR”, reports “Echo of Moscow”. “People are sitting and promoting. Let them tell you how many times and in what form the Foreign Ministry sent them answers, ”Zakharova said. She added that they answered reporters, but "not the way they would like to hear."

On the afternoon of April 11, the press secretary of the court Anastasia Pylina told RIA Novosti that the Presnensky court refused to accept the lawsuit of the Mediazones. She explained that “this dispute is not subject to consideration and resolution in the order of administrative proceedings,” it was necessary to file a civil lawsuit.

The trial is due to the fact that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not respond to the request of the Mediazones about the contacts of the US Prosecutor General Jeff Sehns with the Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak. As Smirnov noted, authorities too often ignore requests from journalists.

On March 3, Mediazona made a request to the official representative of the Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. In addition to issues regarding the meeting of Seshns with Kislyak, the journalists asked whether the Russian ambassador met with the adviser to US President Donald Trump Jared Kushner and with which of the representatives of the Russian Federation the ex-head of Trump Paul Manafort communicated.

The Foreign Ministry did not answer the Foreign Ministry, after which the publication sent it again by mail on March 18. The letter was received in the Ministry on March 24 and after three days they gave an answer. It said that "the schedule and content of such contacts do not belong to the category of public information and, according to diplomatic norms and ordinary rules of good tone, cannot be publicized without the consent of all their participants." The Foreign Ministry refused to answer the question of contacts of Russian diplomats, indicating that "such information will not be provided."

In 2016, in 2016, in early March, the Washington Post wrote about the meetings of Seshns. According to the newspaper, the Prosecutor General kept silent about these contacts while taking the oath in the congress. At the same time, one of the meetings took place in the fall of 2016, when, according to the American special services, the Russian “intervention” in the election of the US president was at the peak.

Trump adviser Michael Flynn also met with a sour, who resigned after these contacts became known. As for Manafort, at the end of March, Associated Press reported that Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska paid him at least $ 40 million in 2006-2009 for “work in the interests” of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Manafort himself said that he represented the interests of a Russian entrepreneur in countries where he had investments, but the promotion of Russia's political interests was not included in his duties.
