"Vedomosti" recognized the error in the article about Friedman

The chief editor of the Vedomosti newspaper Dmitry Simakov recognized the mistake in preparing the article “Call from Spain” about the business of Mikhail Friedman. Simakov told RNS about this.

“Mikhail Friedman, unfortunately, is right - we turned to the comments under the article not to the address. This egregious mistake occurred due to the fault of several editorial staff. There is no question of any influence from outside, ”he said.

Simakov called the incident “human mistake” and explained that the newspaper did not work “protection systems”. According to him, journalists passed questions to Friedman through the general director of Temphon and Topic Sergei Gorbuntsov, who informed reporters that representatives of Mikhail Fridman and his partner refused to comment.

“We have the opportunity to provide Friedman or his representatives to publish some material in the format of the reader’s letter,” said the chief editor, emphasizing that such a mistake cannot become a reason for the author’s criminal prosecution.

Previously, Friedman filed a lawsuit to protect the honor and dignity against the newspaper and demanded a refutation. One of the reasons for the lawsuit was that when preparing the material, journalists did not try to get a comment from him or his representatives. Friedman also demanded to initiate a criminal case of slander against the author of the article by Ivan Vasiliev.
