“Normal” people read the novel in 2006 when he only left, or a little later, when he began to flaunt the bonuses. And I always read the news a week later. When you read or watch the news immediately, you are involuntarily excited. And when you do it with some delay, you understand: it was not worth excited. So with Roman. I do not regret at all that I read it late. And you know why? Yes, because Prilepin himself has long outgrew his text! It grew out of pants. Well, what then, one wonders, was it ... to tear?

What is an interesting romance? It describes a small piece from the life of the young National Bolsheviks participating in the shares of the National Socialist Party: pogroms, seizure of buildings, murders. Prilepin does not make any generalizations, does not show the activities of the party as a whole or its tops - only Sankya and his friends, the reader can only guess about the rest. Excursions to the family history of the protagonist add strokes to the description of his character, but absolutely do not explain why he became so.

What I liked. Prilepin knows the material well, because he himself was an national native for a long time. On the other hand, he greatly romanticizes the hero, to the detriment of objectivity. In the second half of the novel (rather even a story), the author’s view of the hero becomes more critical, the reader begins to guess that Sankya is completely confused by nationalist ideas, not a very smart and absolutely non -educated young man. But in the end, the author is again fond of revolutionary romance, and everything ends with sugary pathetics. What causes a crooked grin, taking into account how sharply Prilepin “changed” after Crimea, declaring a ceasefire of power.

Resume. The novel read easily and with pleasure, but did not discover. The language is pleasant, especially when the author adheres to the usual "city" speech. Flying out with a popular speech cause only irritation. Will I read Prilepin further? I will definitely be.
