In Turkey, protests began against the results of the referendum

In Turkey, after a referendum on the country's transfer to the presidential form of government, protests began. It is reported by Associated Press.

As the agency protesting with posters explained, on which it is written “no, we will win,” went through the areas of Besiktash and Kadykei in Istanbul. At the same time, they shouted: "Thief, killer - Erdogan."

Representatives of the Turkish opposition made a request to cancel the results of the referendum, since, according to their data, there were violations when counting the votes.

OSCE observers said that the referendum did not meet international standards. In response, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan advised representatives of the OSCE “Know your place”. He added that Türkiye would not “listen to politically motivated reports” that observers prepared.

The referendum in Turkey took place on April 16, 51.41% of participants supported amendments to the country's constitution.

According to the changes, the president becomes the head of government and receives the right to appoint ministers and other senior officials. In addition, the president has the right to dissolve the parliament, introduce a state of emergency and issue decrees that will immediately have the status of laws and enter into force without the approval of deputies.

The amendments also resurrect the current term of the presidential powers of Erdogan, and new extends from four to five years.
