On the eve of the high season, Russian tour operators drew attention to the increase in the cost of living in hotels in Sochi during the summer months by an average of 10-15%.
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) cites a number of messages from travel companies, which say that hotel prices in Sochi have increased, but the increase was not 30%, as some media previously reported, but from 7 to 15%.
“In some cases, a more significant increase in prices is indeed recorded, but in the vast majority of cases this is explained by a change in the concept and status of these objects, including the transition to an all-inclusive system,” clarifies the head of the Multitour tour operator, Dmitry Sharov. According to him, , about 20% of the properties in the tour operator’s database have kept prices comparable to last year, including both mini-hotels and top-end properties.
Representatives of Russian tour operators emphasize that although head-to-head price comparisons by hotel aggregators have a right to life, they do not reveal the real picture in all its diversity.
For mass resorts like Sochi, where the share of organized tourism last year, according to data announced by the city authorities, is already at least 65% of the total tourist flow, analysis of hotel prices for self-booking is not entirely relevant - since it does not take into account the significant savings of an organized tourist when booking package tours, remind in ATOR.
