The detained alleged organizer of the explosion in the St. Petersburg metro, Abror Azimov, was identified thanks to a check of his telephone contacts. On the eve of the terrorist attack, he called the alleged suicide bomber Akbarzhon Jalilov. this , citing its sources. reported Kommersant
According to the publication, since April 3, Azimov has not used his phone and has not returned to his apartment in the Moscow region. He lived next to the Lesnoye cafe on Minsk Highway, where he also worked with two other suspects. Investigators were able to identify them using one of the SIM cards that the suspect activated on April 17.
Azimov answered affirmatively when asked if he knew why he was being detained. The police seized a loaded Makarov pistol from him. Investigators intend to petition the Basmanny Court for his arrest in the near future. According to them, the suspect was the only one the suicide bomber telephoned before the attack.
Azimov was detained on April 17 in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region. He is a native of the Central Asian region.
