The court ruled against activists who were photographed with chicken eggs

The Leninsky District Court in Cheboksary today ruled in administrative cases against two activists in connection with a photograph showing people holding chicken eggs in their hands. This was reported to OVD-Info by lawyer Alexei Glukhov.

The case under Part 2 of Art. 20.2 (organization of an uncoordinated public event) in relation to Vyacheslav Rybakov, a supporter of the politician Maltsev, was terminated due to the absence of an administrative offense.

On April 16, in Cheboksary Hyde Park, several people, wishing to express solidarity and support for Vyacheslav Maltsev, who was arrested for 15 days in Moscow, took a photo with chicken eggs in their hands, on which letters were written that formed the phrase "Freedom to Maltsev." The police considered this to be an uncoordinated picket, the organizers of which “demonstrated the slogan “Freedom to Maltsev” using chicken eggs with lettered meanings.” On April 18, police officers detained several people who, in their opinion, took part in an illegal action.

In court, Glukhov, who represented Rybakov, pointed out that events held in Hyde Park do not require approval if the number of participants does not exceed 100 people:

We explained to the court that there is no requirement to file notices for events with less than 100 people in Hyde Park, and this was approved by the Russian Constitutional Court. It was a peaceful and short event, there were no other meetings in Hyde Park at that time, the guys did not interfere with anyone. The court listened to our arguments and dismissed the case against Vyacheslav Rybakov.

But with regard to another activist who took part in the action with eggs, the court made a different decision - Elena Blinova was fined 20,000 rubles under Part 2 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for the distribution of Easter eggs.
