
The Chairman of the German Evrosceptics "Alternative for Germany" Frauke Petri will not represent the faction in the parliamentary elections in September. Thus, she refused to claim the post of Chancellor of Germany, reports Deutsche Welle. The new representative in the Bundestag will be selected at the party congress at the end of April.
Petri curled up in the party there was a split. According to the media, a number of politicians consider it an insufficiently tough leader for the right party opposing globalization and immigration.
The Alternative for Germany won the support of the conservative part of the population of Germany due to a crisis with migrants, as a result of which more than a million refugees arrived in Europe. Now the party has received places in eight of the sixteen land parliaments in Germany.
Experts do not evaluate the chances of "Alternatives for Germany" to a breakthrough in the September elections. Nevertheless, the positions of right -wing politicians have been significantly strengthened in recent years.
