The Prize "Poet" was awarded to Maxim Amelin

April 19 in the house-museum A.N. Tolstoy in Moscow, the jury of the Russian Literary Prize "Poet" announced the laureate of 2017. He was the poet Maxim Amelin.

Maxim Albertovich Amelin (b. 1970) in 1991-1994 studied at the Literary Institute named after A.M. Gorky, since 2008, is the editor -in -chief of the United Humanitarian Publishing House (OGA).

The author of the books of the verses “Cold Odes” (1996), “Dubia” (1999), “Horse Gorgon” (2003) and “Gnowed Speech” (2011), as well as translations from Latin and ancient Greek.

Laureate of the Antibuker Award (1998), the New World journal (1998), the Great Prize of the Moscow Account (2004), the Bunin Prize (2012), the Banner of the magazine (2013), Alexander Solzhenitsyn Prize (2013).

The Poet Prize was established in 2005 by the Society for the Promotion of Russian Poetry as a reward for the highest achievements in modern Russian poetry. It is awarded only now living poets who write in Russian, regardless of their nationality and place of residence.

The winner of the Poet Prize is awarded with a diploma, badge and monetary reward in the amount of 1.5 million rubles.

In 2016, Naum Korzhavin, who became the honorary chairman of the jury of this season of the award, was received by the prize.
