The court arrested the brother of Akram Azimov, suspected of involvement in the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg

The Basmanny Court of Moscow, until June 3, arrested Akram Azimov, the older brother of Abror Azimov, who is suspected of involvement in the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro. This was reported by a Mediazona correspondent from the courtroom.

During the hearing, the man said that he was not involved in the terrorist attack and objected to being taken into custody.

The FSB believes that Akram Azimov helped alleged terrorists send money to prepare for a terrorist attack, and also organized a “channel of communication with emissaries of international terrorist organizations.” Investigators believe that Akram received money that his brother Abror transferred to the alleged suicide bomber Jalilov. He was detained on April 19 in New Moscow.

The mother of the Vazir brothers claims that Akram was kidnapped from a hospital in Osh, Kyrgyzstan, and the video of the arrest in Moscow, which was distributed by the FSB, is “obviously staged.” A RIA Novosti source said that Azimov Sr. went to Moscow to “give testimony.”

Earlier, the court arrested Abror Azimov; during the hearing, he said that he did not know that his actions were related to the explosion in St. Petersburg. A total of nine people have been arrested in connection with the terrorist attack, which killed 15 people.
