A second envelope with white powder was sent to the editorial office of Novaya Gazeta.

Another envelope with white powder of unknown origin was found in the mail of the Novaya Gazeta editorial office. The envelope says that it is also addressed to the newspaper's management.

As reported on the newspaper’s website, the editorial office is now staffed by the operational services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the police. After the envelope is seized, it will be sent for examination, the results of which will be ready in a week.

The first envelope with white powder arrived at the editorial office the previous morning. The general director of Novaya Gazeta, Sergei Kozheurov, was indicated as the addressee, and Grozny as the place of departure. Express analysis of the powder from the envelope did not show the presence of hazardous substances.

On April 13, Novaya released a statement citing threats to its journalists after publications about the persecution of gays in Chechnya. According to the newspaper, a meeting of Chechen theologians and public opinion leaders adopted a resolution calling for violence against the newspaper's employees.

After this, the Minister of National Policy, External Relations, Press and Information of Chechnya, Dzhambulat Umarov, called on the editor-in-chief of Novaya to “apologize to the Chechen people” for articles about the persecution of gays and to “get acquainted with the mental specifics of the region.”
