According to the text of the bill, houses that fall into the renovation zone will be subject to demolition, regardless of the number of floors, series and degree of wear and tear, while their residents will be provided with “equivalent living quarters” in new buildings. During the discussion of the amendments, the head of the State Duma Committee on Housing Policy and Housing and Communal Services, Galina Khovanskaya, noted that the current version of the bill “does not say that housing will be provided in the same area or a neighboring one.”
