NSU professor received the highest award of France

Director of the French Center for Novosibirsk State University, professor at the French language department of the Humanitarian Institute of NSU Michelle Debrenn received the Order of the Honorary Legion. The decree issued the French government.

Parisian Michel Debrenn entered the NSU GUMFAC in 1976 and graduated from the university in 1980 with a red diploma. Now she is heading the French Center of the University, thanks to her, NSU has been participating in projects in the field of student exchange and scientific cooperation between Russia and France for many years.

On April 20, it became known about the assignment of the Order of the Legion of Honor - the French National Award, established by Napoleon Bonaparte on May 19, 1802. Belonging to the Order is the highest sign of distinction, honor and official recognition of special military or civilian merits. As a rule, a French citizen can become the owner of the order only after a long impeccable public service or successful professional activity.

“This is really a very high award,” the NSU press service Michel Debrenn quotes. - Of course, I could not imagine that I would be its owner. I received a letter from the adviser to the consul of the French Embassy in Moscow with reference to the publication where a decree with the names of the awarded was published. I am in the list, which was submitted by the Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The order is carried out for military or civil merits to France. As it turned out, one of my great -grandfathers received this order for military merits. ”

Thanks to Michelle Debrenn, the largest French universities and higher schools became key partners of the State University, NSU noted.

“Among Russian universities, NSU is one of the most active in terms of interaction with French universities. Only RUDN can compare with NSU in Russian-French cooperation, ”says Michelle Debrenn. “The meaning of my activity, for which I probably received a reward, is that they know more about the Novosibirsk State University abroad and come here to study here.”

Work with the French side is carried out in several areas. The set of French students for short -term scientific internships in Akademgorodok is completed. Last year, 43 students passed the internship under the program, this year there were much more people who wanted to. The program, according to Debrenn, is a powerful tool for increasing the interest of French students in Siberian science.

In January 2017, a meeting of NSU graduates in Paris was held. Also, the director of the French center is the organization of the STUDY in Siberia salon in Paris:

“I organized conferences in Novosibirsk many times when we showed representatives of French universities the possibility of our education. This time I want to do the opposite: to present the Novosibirsk University in Paris. It is worth noting that the French partners are very interested in the conference. In addition, we have another project in the next year - the NSU entering the Association of Universities of the Francophony. ”

As the NSU press service specified, the Order of the Honorary Legion is not the only award of Michelle Debrenn: in 2008, she received the Senate of France “Trophées de La Préesence Française à L'étranger” for his contribution to the development of French culture abroad.
