In Russia, Google began to more often provide personal data of users to security forces

Google has released a report on the availability of services and data (Transparency report). The document states that in 2016, law enforcement agencies contacted the company 471 times. In 2015, 464 appeals were made, in 2014 - 227, in 2013 - 193, in 2012 - 155.

“Our statistics reflect the number of requests from law enforcement agencies to disclose the personal data of Google and YouTube users, the number of requests that we satisfied (in whole or in part), as well as how many users and accounts are listed in them,” the company said in a statement.

As clarified by Google, they consider the legitimacy of each request. In some cases, the company refuses to disclose information about users even partially.

In the United States, intelligence agencies sent 13.68 thousand requests to the company, in 79% of cases Google cooperated with the country's authorities. Globally, Google has submitted information to authorities for 60% of requests.
