The chief military prosecutor of Russia Sergey Friedinsky filed a resignation. This information was confirmed by the Federation Council. About who will replace Friedinsky at the post, has not yet been officially reported. Meanwhile, the prosecutor has already been found a new job - most likely, he will take the post of Deputy Minister of Justice.

“The Federation Council received a statement by Sergey Fridinsky with a request to dismiss him from his position in connection with the retirement of a length of service,” Viktor Ozerov, chairman of the committee on defense and security, said on April 22, his words quoted by RIA Novosti quoted.

According to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the appointment and dismissal of the Prosecutor General and his deputies, including the main military prosecutor, is under the jurisdiction of the Council. On April 25, the issue of resignation of the main military prosecutor will be previously discussed by the Chamber of Constitutional Legislation and defense and security in closed mode, and on April 26 it will be considered at the Council meeting.

Viktor Ozerov did not exclude that the departure of the chief prosecutor from his post may be associated with the reform of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office (GVP). He stated this on the air of the Echo of Moscow . “Perhaps this is due to the reform. We still do not know in what form this reform will occur. Perhaps we will no longer have the positions of the deputy general of the prosecutor, ”he said. At the same time, Ozerov noted that there is no exact information about the reasons for the resignation of Friedinsky yet.

In turn, the sources of the Interfax agency argue that in the near future Friedinsky may not be in retirement at all, but as deputy minister of justice. “The conversations that Friedinsky was leaving the post of chief military prosecutor had been going on for a long time. And all this time, of course, he was selected a new position, ”one of the agency’s interlocutors explained.

The possible successor to Friedinsky in the GVP, sources of Interfax called the current prosecutor of Buryatia Valery Petrov. Among other applicants are the head of the Department of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation for the supervision of the inquiry and operational-search activities Sergey Ivanov, who previously worked in the military prosecutor's office.

In the most important military prosecutor's office, they refused any comments on the resignation of Friedinsky.

In the media, the name Friedinsky came in 1999, when he filed a lawsuit against the journalist of the newspaper Military Bulletin of the South of Russia, Alexander Tolmachev. In the article, the journalist argued that Friedinsky allegedly used his position in the extraordinary receipt of two apartments in the center of Rostov-on-Don. At that time, Friedinsky held the post of military prosecutor of the North Caucasus Military District. In May 1999, the court decided that the actions of the journalist should be qualified as a conscientious error, so Friedinsky was denied compensation.

Since 2000, Friedinsky was appointed deputy prosecutor general of the Russian Federation Vladimir Ustinov. In this position, he oversaw the issues of the Southern Federal District. In particular, he led the investigation of terrorist attacks in the hostel of the Chelyabinsk Internal Affairs Directorate in Argun in 2000, at parades on May 9, 2002 in Dagestan Kaspiysk and May 9, 2004 in Grozny. During the last terrorist attack in Grozny, the president of the Chechen Republic Akhmat Kadyrov died.

In 2004, the official moved to Moscow, where he dealt with issues of adoption of Russian orphans by foreign citizens, as well as general problems of homelessness and neglect. He owns the idea of ​​creating labor gymnasiums for such children. In 2006, at the initiative of Friedinsky, a large -scale wave of inspections was held in Russian schools, during which various violations were identified.

After Friedinsky was appointed to the post of chief military prosecutor of the Russian Federation in 2016, experts noted that the conflict between the main military prosecutor and the Ministry of Defense had stopped.
