All attempts to give Bashlachev posthumously official status look, to put it mildly, strange. He was an uncomfortable author and an uncomfortable person, and officialdom needs comfortable people, people who know what a format is, how to fit into it, how not to speak superfluous. In all his songs-despair and some doom, what is customary to be called Russian longing. It is impossible to extract positive from it by definition.
No one knows what was the cause of Bashlachev's suicide. But at different times, with a slight gap, we were with him at the same cottage with a very bad reputation. And I heard with my own ears: "Sasha also walked here like that, and then flew out of the window." After a year or two, I myself reached the same state. In the song, I describe the sensation of a person who stands by the window and is going to jump. I came to this face very close, I also survived these feelings.
They say that for two years he did not write anything before his death. And this is familiar to me. From 1992 to 1994-not a single song. I spent this time in prison, then in a psychiatric clinic. The feeling of a dead end is murderous. You understand that you have rested against the wall, you have nothing more to say. Everyone is waiting for you to explain to them where to go further, and you say: "Sorry, guys, there is no way on."
In this sense, I like Forrest Gump. Remember how he loved to run? This is contagious, the movement gained strength - in front of the Gump, overgrown with a beard, like Moses, and behind it a crowd of runners. And so he says: "I'm tired of, I’ll go home, I'm tired." In his case, this could be done. And we did not have the spirit to say: “That's enough, I’ll go now to wrap the nuts to the plant, I was tired of singing songs”, we simply could not take such a step. External pressure can still be overcome, but there are internal obligations from which it is very difficult to free. You are completely tied to this, you just have no way out.
Why did the Soviet people tear the roof in the late 1980s-early 1990s? We lived in a different reality. Making money in this coordinate system was considered something vicious. If a person frankly showed a career spirit or wanted, in today's tongue, to gain more likes, it smelled bad and did not approve. Such people were, but they rode somewhere in a separate carriage. And now to advance yourself, make a name for yourself a normal practice.
There were hucksters and there were honest rock and rolmers who fought for the idea. You write songs, you live in this, and at some stage they say to you: “Excellent, you are cool. Let's work: play and receive money. ” But the meaning of creativity is in another ...
This is now I understand the rules of the game and I know how to adapt them for myself. And then I, like any Soviet man, had a lock: you can’t sell! We live in a world where everything is sold and everything is bought, we also sell and buy, the question is how to do it. But this is now. And then we did not have immunity to such a relationship, we could not live with it. Bashlachev was a man of that time. And his fate is as a script for the film in which the hero must die, this is absolutely logical from the point of view of the plot, from the point of view of that era.
The roof was seriously demolished to us all then. Personally, in order to come in myself and recover from all this, it took almost twenty years. And some have not yet recovered.
