The Sovetsky District Court of Volgograd arrested in absentia former State Duma deputy from A Just Russia Oleg Mikheev, accused of attempting to steal 2 billion rubles, reports . Interfax

“Mikheev does not appear at repeatedly scheduled hearings, and there are no requests from him to postpone court hearings. Mikheev fled from trial. His location is unknown,” said judge Natalya Barkova, instructing the prosecutor to search for the ex-deputy.

Also at the meeting, the judge said that the FSB responded to the request, saying that it did not have information about Mikheev crossing the border.

According to investigators, in 2007 Mikheev prepared forged documents about the debt of Volgoprombank to him, and in 2011 he sent a statement to the court demanding the recovery of 2.1 billion rubles from Promsvyazbank, the legal successor of Volgoprombank. The court did not support the claim.

Mikheev was a State Duma deputy of the 5th and 6th convocations; the case of attempted theft of billions of rubles was separated from another case against the former deputy. In 2015 he was declared bankrupt.

He received the greatest fame for appearing at the wedding of his fellow party member in the uniform of Nazi admiral Wilhelm Canaris and for the fact that his assistant Nikolai Volkov was sentenced to 14 years in prison for sex and violence against minors.
