Ex-deputy Mikheev arrested in absentia

The Soviet District Court of Volgograd in absentia arrested the former State Duma deputy from Fair Russia Oleg Mikheev, accused of embezzlement of more than 2 billion rubles. It is reported by Interfax .

The court changed the ex-deputy a measure of restraint from a subscription about the wonness of the arrest, satisfying the petition of the state prosecution. The criminal case against Mikheev will be returned to the prosecutor's office, the judge decided to put him on the wanted list.

Mikheev and his lawyer did not come to any court hearing, the bailiffs did not find a suspect at any of the available addresses. The FSB said that they do not have information about the intersection of the Russian border.

According to Kommersant, the former deputy was put on the federal wanted list in February, after he did not sign the indictment in the fraud case from 2013. Mikheev himself called the matter illegal. The Volgograd branch of Fair Russia said that the ex-deputy is in Moscow.

According to investigators, the ex-deputy tried to kidnap 1.2 billion rubles from Promsvyazbank, which in 2008 acquired the Volgoprombank belonging to him. Promsvyazbank filed a civil lawsuit against Mikheev, after which the former deputy tried to influence the court using his official position, noted in the UK. An article appeared in his case about the obstruction of justice, but then the persecution of this episode was stopped due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

In December 2015, the Arbitration Court of the Volgograd Region recognized Mikheev bankrupt. Its debts amount to 9.5 billion rubles.
