“Instead of principles, beliefs, respect for other people's opinions and creativity, aggression and intolerance appear, and we see this aggression. This aggression is sometimes embodied in criminal acts. Sometimes it comes down to the pursuit of the author whose work no one has yet seen, ”Medvedev said.

As the prime minister emphasized, officials should not indicate to artists how to create. According to him, "a narrow -political approach to culture in normal modern society is simply unacceptable."

“If we again do not want to return at a time when the culture was rigidly regulated from above, then we all need to take this into account, including officials, politicians. In general, any person who is overwhelmed by power needs to suppress the temptation to explain to the artist what he should do, ”the prime minister added.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation said that when issuing a rental certificate of the film by Alexei Matilda, Matilda will not focus on the examination made by order of the State Duma deputy Natalia Poklonskaya.

Poklonskaya several times asked the Prosecutor General’s office to check the teacher’s film to insult the feelings of believers. In his second appeal, the deputy said that the Matilda script will be checked by an expert commission, which will include historians and theologians. Poklonskaya spoke about the results of the examination on April 17.
