At first Veste was lucky and was not lucky at the same time. Her puppy was picked up on the street in Noginsk near Moscow and left to live in the house. But soon the dog teenager began to annoy the owners: after all, you need to go for a walk all the time! And when the third child was born in the family, interest in the dog was gone at all. She was released into the street - perhaps hoping that a stupid animal would simply get lost and would not come, but Vesta perfectly remembered the way home and returned each time.

In the end, the boring dog was simply tied in the hallway, put a muzzle - and stopped feeding. The need for walking also disappeared. In this state, Vesta lived for about a month-occasionally, as veterinarians later understood, the dog gave water and sometimes threw some pieces, perhaps the children spared her. Maybe that is why the dog still loves children and reaches for kids on walks.

In March, a conscience woke up in the mistress. She called the local veterinarian and offered to pick up Vesta while she was still alive: "All the same, we do not feed her." The shocked doctor went to the volunteers of the zooist, the dog was taken. From the monthly wearing of the muzzle, Vesta pulled the entire face, the stomach became the size of a nut, the dog was extremely exhausted.

“Volunteer volunteers were afraid that the animal could not go out, a professional approach was needed,” says Ekaterina Panova, head of the Ray Foundation, which provides systemic assistance to animals. - We took the dog, took her to a serious veterinary clinic. Fortunately, Vesta’s health was slightly damaged, we began to nurse her - and at the same time look for good hands, a house where she would go to live. ”

Surprisingly, Vesta, who had previously seen anything from people except neglect and negativity, turned out to be an incredibly trusting and affectionate creature, Ekaterina Panova notes. “We found that she loves all people from the first minute of acquaintance, is ready to hug endlessly, constantly pokes in her hands to scratch, stroke.” True, the first time Vestu was only interested in food - she was ready to select anything on the street, even candy wrappers. Because of the hunger, her wool was in a terrible state, and it was not immediately possible to get rid of the smell-the employees of the fund recall that it smelled of Vesta more than some shelter animals: it seems that the owners have never washed the dog.
The fund immediately began to search for a house for Vesta. “I really wanted to immediately send the baby home after the clinic-she deserved to be a truly beloved dog,” says Ekaterina Panova. Meanwhile, Vesta continued to surprise the fund employees. She was even nicknamed the Windoderkind - she instantly learned the “Sit” command (in the voice and gesture), almost mastered the “Give Lapu” team, and obeyed on walks. And she continued to pour out the unspent love of others. For example, I found that the language is needed not only for food and drink, they can still lick a person with joy!

Photos and stories about Vesta made a noise in social networks. “There were a lot of people who wanted to, not for any animal that I oversaw, there were no so many calls,” says Catherine. But Diana and Konstantin were the first to come to Vesta.

Diana knew about the Ray fund. Shortly before these events, she met with Catherine at a corporate charity fair and subscribed to the foundation page: “There I read the history of Vesta.”

Diana dreamed of a dog. But two cats live in the house. Konstantin, the husband of Diana, was in childhood. “I talked with my husband, and suddenly he agreed to go and get acquainted with Vesta. At home, we discussed that someday we will have a dog, but they did not make specific plans. I am grateful to Kostya - if he had not supported me, nothing would have happened. ”

Vesta was immediately imbued with confidence in the guests. Gave Diana and Constantine a paw. “We talked well and no longer wanted to leave without Vesta. On the same day they took her home, ”says Diana.

Katya, as a personal curator of Vesta, went to spend the dog to a new house. Actually, this is one of the rules of work of the fund with the owners of attached animals. “First we talk on the phone and, if during the conversation we are convinced that this is really“ the same man ”, we ask you to fill out the questionnaire. It is important that there are no returns or that the dog is simply not thrown out into the street, ”Ekaterina explains. - Then we invite you to get acquainted with the animal. If everything suits everyone, and the animal is also enough - we escort the new owner with a dog or a cat home - to see what conditions there are. If the animal immediately fits into the family, this is an easy option - once a month, photos and a small story are sent to us, but more often we monitor the situation almost every day, at least in the first month. It happens that curators lasts several years, especially if the animal has health or behavior problems - our recommendations and help are often needed. ”

“At first we were a little confused,” Diana recalls. - We had extensive experience in communication with cats, but with dogs - no. But our cats are Basya, 14 years old, and the mafia, eight years - oddly enough, calmly reacted to the emergence of a new family member. Of course, cats are afraid of her so far - Vesta is too active and unpredictable to them, but they are not trying to survive from their territory. ”

On the first day, West could not believe that her life had changed so well. She really wanted to sleep, her eyes were closed, but she, overcoming a dream, followed Diana and Konstantin on the heels.

At nine months, Vesta weighed only nine and a half kilograms. For a month I had to observe a special diet in order to gain weight. “At first, Vesta was not at all interested in toys. Apparently, they never played with her at all, ”says Diana. “But it is gradually being mastered, besides, physical forces appear, and now West is happy to run on walks, actively selects the wraps found.”

“We did not suspect how known Vesta! At home we call her a "star"! - Diana laughs. - Many are still interested in her fate. Especially for them, we decided to start a special Instagram account @tasamayaveSta, where you can monitor the new Vesta life. I am grateful to all volunteers and like -minded funds of the fund, who share their experience in raising dogs with us and note the successes of Vesta. ”

And successes are daily. Konstantin is now a more free schedule, so he spends more time with Vesta and trains it. She learned several new teams, including unusual ones. For example, “into the bath” - on this team, Vesta jumps into the bath so that her paws are washed after a walk.

“When I only met the fund, I was struck by the amount of work that they do, because the fund provides support for many shelters at once,” says Diana. - The activities of such organizations are extremely important: in our society about animals, they think far in the first place. And not everyone can do this business, because this is hard work, including from a psychological point of view. ”

A lot of work

Since March 2012, the Ray Foundation team worked as a volunteer movement, and in 2015 it became a fund. “It is difficult to explain to people that there should be employees in the fund, not just volunteers. The topic of administrative expenses is generally complicated for the charity sector - donors do not always understand its necessity. But if I had not devoted all my time to the fund, but only volunteer in fragments - I would not have saved Vesta, ”says Ekaterina Panova. - For example, on the first day I spent more than eight hours to pick it up, transport, undergo a full examination in the clinic, then visited the dog daily and oversaw its history. To professionally help animals, you need to do this daily. And of course, financing is needed. We spent 14 thousand rubles on the treatment of Vesta - fortunately, a small amount. But animals come to us, which are often seriously ill. Someone was abandoned by the owners, someone is brought into a shelter to live-the old dog becomes unnecessary, we find someone on the street ... Sometimes tens of thousands of rubles and a huge amount of effort and time go to their treatment and restoration. ”

The Ray Foundation oversees 25 shelters in Moscow and the regions, in which more than 12 thousand dogs and cats live. “We have a schedule for helping shelters. These are feed, medicines, trips with veterinarians who examine and treat animals, we buy building materials, help repair overliers. We are a pillow for shelters, ”Ekaterina explains. The fund also implements a program of sterilization of ownerless animals. But the largest consumption is on the program of treatment of homeless animals, for shelters, for example, there are often no resources for this. And the fund also holds charitable events-Catherine is convinced of the importance of such social and educational work. And the society is gradually turning to face zoo protection organizations.

Now the Fund is developing a mobile application to help shelters and homeless animals with an interactive map of Moscow and the region, the Ray’s subsidy has helped the Committee of Public Relations of Moscow. “For example, shelters often lack cars to take the animal to the doctor or transport food, or you need to walk with animals, sometimes you need remote help, for example, collect some information at the computer. The application will help volunteers in time to be where help urgently needs, ”explains Catherine. “The card will also help the owners - there will always be an application with the nearby veterinary clinics.”
