The theme of the festival this year is the “power of attraction” as a fundamental scientific concept affecting each of us. The organizers of the festival suggested that the inventors and artists think about the direct and metaphorical meaning of this concept.
The festival headliners are Canadian artists, classics of technological art Bill Vorn and Louis Filipp Demer. They will present an Inferno performance, in which the audience is invited to go on stage, putting on an exoskeleton.
The largest object of the festival will be Aerocen Museo Aero Solar , which will be collected from plastic bags and volunteers will be launched into the sky. The Polytechnic Museum has already opened a collection of packages for installation.
The artist Clara Ravat will hold The Smell Lab - a series of meetings of the community of artists, scientists and all those who are interested in the study of smells, students under the guidance of the artist Yuri Suzuki will create an “impossible machine” object created on the principle of Goldberg’s machine - a device that performs a very simple action in a very complex way, and artists from the “Research Committee of Cosmic Art” together The Humm Astronomical Observatory (Japan) will present an installation repeating the outlines of the starry sky, which will be seen in the days of the Polytechnic festival on the back of the globe - in New Zealand.
Scientists and international experts in the field of new technologies, as well as artists, participants of the festival, will take part in the special lecture program.
The film-speaker of the festival is Ivan Pupyrev , the head of projects in the field of interactive technologies of the future in Google Atap , an inventor and designer working at the junction of interactive design and technology.
