year 2014. Fire in the Odessa House of Trade Unions

Three years ago, on May 2, 2014, a fire in the Odessa House of Trade Unions, which arose after a clash between pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian demonstrators, killed 42 people. Another 6 people were killed during clashes on Grecheskaya Street and Kulikovo Field. The opponents of the Euromaidan ousted from there took refuge in the House of Trade Unions.

The fire arose, according to one version, from Molotov cocktails, according to another - from burning tires. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the SBU, Molotov cocktails were thrown by the anti-Maidanites themselves. Responsibility for the investigation was laid on the former head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for the Odessa region, Dmitry Fuchedzhi, who fled Ukraine. The authorities accused the police of supporting pro-Russian forces.
