Awarded the prizes of the Goeast film festival

On May 2, in Wisbaden, a ceremony of awarding the winners of the film festival of Central and Eastern Europe GEAST took place.

The main prize, the Golden Lily, for the best film was the tragicomedy of Boyan Vuletich “Requi for Mrs. Jay” ( Rekvijem Za Gospodju J , Serbia) is the story of Elena, a pension widow, who decides to pass away, but understands that even this step in the modern bureaucratic system is not easy.

Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross received a directorial prize for the opening film of the festival “My Happy Family” ( Chemi Bednieri Ojakhi , Germany-France-Georgia). The heroine of the picture, 52-year-old Manana, decides to leave the family and start a new life on his own.

The documentary “City of the Sun” (Georgia-Ssha-Catar-Niserland) about the mining ghostur city in Western Georgia was awarded that the picture “managed to seize the unusual stamina and beauty of the place and its inhabitants, contrary to the colorlessness of the city, years and centuries.”

The prize of the international jury of film critics for the best documentary was received by the painting "Cinema Island" ( Kino Otok , Croatia). According to the jury, the film "A small amount of means and in a minimalist style, excellently shows that the movie is part of the natural landscape."

Russian director Nick Teplov received from the Cultural Fund of Frankfurt-on-Maina a Goeast Development Award for the Gilgamesh 40000 project.

Within seven days, 111 films from 29 countries were shown at the festival, including the work of Andrei Silvestrov and Daniil Zinchenko, Arina Ajju, Valeria Gai Germanika, Vitaly Mansky, Nikolai Khomerika, Andrei Konchalovsky and other Russian directors. Views, seminars and discussions organized by the German Institute of Cinematography of Frankfurt-on-Maina visited more than 12 thousand people.
