In prison, more reliable

The DPR military tribunal sentenced the 63-year-old Ukrainian religious scholar Igor Kozlovsky to two years and eight months in prison. It is reported by his son Alexander.

"The so -called court argued his position by the fact that Kozlovsky is an especially unreliable citizen, since he had contacts with a number of organizations banned in the DPR, in particular, members of the Freedom party in 2014. It remains only to hope for wide public support and effective actions of Ukrainian authorities and international organizations in the process of liberation of Igor Kozlovsky," the son of the convict wrote.

At the same time, neither Kozlovsky’s age, nor the presence of a dependent son of a disabled person was taken into account by the “court” as mitigating circumstances.

In January last year, the DPR militants broke into Kozlovsky’s house, seized equipment and documents for the apartment, and also stole a collection of antiques that belonged to him. The scientist himself was taken away without explanation .

Kozlovsky is a candidate of historical sciences, head of the Donetsk branch of the Ukrainian Association of Religious Vedas, president of the Center for Religious Studies and International Spiritual Relations, one of the leaders of the Council of Churches of the region. He taught religious studies in Donnta. Kozlovsky could not leave Donetsk, as he looked after a paralyzed son.

According to his son, Kozlovsky could attract the attention of the Siloviks of the DPR with participation in the interfaith prayer marathon "For Unity and Peace in Ukraine" in March - October 2014. The scientist went to the shares with the Ukrainian flag.
