An exhibition of comics about Russian poets will be held at the Tsvetaeva House-Museum

How animals enhance the library experience

On Thursday, May 11, the Marina Tsvetaeva House-Museum will open the exhibition “FROM HAND”, which will show original illustrations and sketches for comics about Russian poets. The organizers of the event informed The Village about this.

“Over the year of its existence, the “FROM HAND” project has grown into an independent publishing project with distribution points in all significant bookstores in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The working materials for “FROM HAND” have become separate objects of art and are being transformed into a new exhibition, where the most famous Russian poets will be talked about as never before,” the organizers write on the event page. Thus, Joseph Brodsky is presented in the form of a sobbing cat, Mayakovsky - at a reception with God in the queue of resurrections, and Marina Tsvetaeva - in the form of a saint with a lit cigarette.

Each Handwritten comic is illustrated by two young artists. In addition to the poem itself, to which the zine is dedicated, there is a biography of the poet inside. For example, in the comic about Boris the Red, the Sverdlovsk district of Vtorchermet is depicted, in the issue about Anna Akhmatova there is a cafe “Stray Dog” and a queue at the Big House, and the “Pushkin” issue “is not complete without numerous female legs.”

The author and organizer of the project is director Roma Liberov, co-author is publisher Maxim Chumin. The design is being carried out by the group of street artists ZukClub, which previously painted portraits of Bulgakov, Eisenstein and Stanislavsky on the walls of Moscow houses. The exhibition will run until June 25. Admission is free.
