A follower of Tablighi Jamaat has been sentenced in Tatarstan

On May 5, the Naberezhnye Chelny City Court sentenced local resident Rinat Minnegulov to a year and eight months in a penal colony with restriction of freedom for six months on charges of participating in the activities of an extremist organization in connection with membership in the Tablighi Jamaat movement. This is reported by the website of the Information and Analytical Center "Sova".

In April, the same court sentenced nine people on the same charges, ranging from three years and nine months to two years. Minnegulov's case was singled out as a separate proceeding, since he got acquainted with the materials for a long time. At the same time, the trial was held in a special order, since Minnegulov pleaded guilty.

SOVA considers the ban on Tablighi Jamaat as an extremist organization unlawful.
