In the annexed Crimea, when sand mining, archaeological values ​​are destroyed in the ancient settlement and necropolis of artesian. This was reported on the website of the East Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve.

As noted, in the Leninsky district of Crimea northwest of Necropolis and the settlement of Artesian, sand from illegal quarries is undergoing. On the territory where the mounds are located, an ancient road, a Hellenistic village and a soil necropolis, work with deep drilling is underway.

As a result of sand mining in his career, there were mound groups of 20 mounds, part of the necropolis, a heavy wheel tractor drove along the antique tombs. "The unique monument of archeology - the settlement and necropolis of Artesian, who stood on state accounting since the Soviet era, was caused by serious damage, which will be evaluated by specialists," the museum workers' circulation says.

The fact that the development of sand quarries will begin in the territory of the ancient settlement, the museum was recognized in 2016. Since then, employees of the institution have repeatedly turned to the Russian authorities of the peninsula with a request to prohibit the production of sand, but encountered only "criminal neutrality and bureaucratic subscriptions."

The sand mined in the East Crimea is used by the Russian authorities of the peninsula to build the Tavrida federal highway. According to the museum, an independent examination of sand from quarries near the ancient settlement showed that it does not meet the needs of road construction.

In January, the Crimean diocese asked her to transfer 24 objects of the State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve "Chersonesos Tauride".
