On April 23, 2017, in the Moscow Conference Center of “Yandex” “Extropolis” on Lev Tolstoy Street, the annual Vicki Prime was presented, and this is a good reason to tell readers of the “Trinity option” about an unusual and very interesting reward. After all, the past ceremony is already the seventh, and it seems that only avid Wikipedists and their few allies in the matter of free knowledge of knowledge have heard about Vicki-Premium.
Vicki Prime founded and presents non-profit partnership of promoting the dissemination of encyclopedic knowledge “Vikimedia RU”, representing the interests of the Wikipedists (volunteers of the Wikipedia and other projects of the Vikimedia Foundation) in Russia.
The idea of the award was born in 2010, when the Wikipedists were preparing to celebrate the first, tenth anniversary of the project. On January 15, 2011, the building of the K. D. Ushinsky Scientific Pedagogical Library was presented with symbolic awards-the diploma and figurines “Wikipedia-10”-for various significant achievements for a decade. At that time, 36 activists of only one project - the Russian Wikipedia were awarded at that time. But even then the foundations of the future traditional award were laid, and the 2011 presentation ceremony is considered the first in the history of the Wicky-Premium.

So, already in 2011, in one of the nominations the winners of the competition “Article of the Year 2010” were noted - the traditional New Year's competition, when the entire community of the Russian Wikipedia determines the best articles written over the past year. The award was also received by the winners of the Christmas Wick Marathon (to write articles), the leaders of the decade in the number of amendments and the articles made, the most prolific authors of high-quality (“good” and “chosen”) work; The authors of unique achievements were not forgotten: the creators of thematic and infrastructure projects, programmers, photographers, organizers of offline events.
Many of these nominations next year were included in the program of Wiki Premium, which has already covered not only the Russian Wikipedia, but also the “fraternal” projects: “Vikite” (free library), “Vikhoucel”, “Wikiuchebnik”, “Wikiwessetite” (project of interactive scientific projects), “Vikingic” (free newsletter Civil Journalism Agency), Vicky-Citel and Vikigid (free guide).
The second ceremony was held on March 9, 2012 again in the scientific pedagogical library. Ushinsky. Awards were added to the “statistical” nominations for working in the Vikimedia projects for patrolling new articles of the Russian “Wikipedia” (a special procedure for confirming the quality of articles written by beginners), for creating the largest number of “selected” lists (one of the types of wiki). For the first time, the award was awarded the activist of the Wikipedia section in Russia, excellent from Russian,-the winner of the Vicky Marathon in the Yakutsk (Sakha) Wikipedia. In total, 27 wiki activists received the award.
The next, third ceremony of the Vicki-Premium presented on May 18, 2013 in the first educational (historical) building of the G.V. Plekhanov was combined with celebrations for writing a millionth article in the Russian Wikipedia. On the territory of the REU, the oak alley of Wikipedia was landed by activists, and two types of prizes were made for the award ceremony: “Golden” for the authors of “Articles of the Year” and blue for the rest of the laureates.

For the first time, the reward was awarded to the leader of the year according to the number of summarized discussions, this nomination became constant. Unique nominations were also awarded - the author of the millionth article “Wikipedia” and the leaders of the month of refinement of articles from the obligatory list (1000 articles that should be in every language version of Wikipedia; thanks to the month, the Russian Wikipedia took first place in this rating with one hundred percent result). In total, 34 laureates received the award.
The fourth ceremony of the Vicki Prime was combined with a traditional autumn wiki conference held at the REU. G. V. Plekhanov September 13-14, 2014, and became truly breakthrough. The ceremony was divided into two parts. On the second day, under the conference curtain, traditional awards were awarded to the Wikipedists for 2013, and for the first time, the leaders of the most actively developing sections of “Wikipedia” in Russia's languages were awarded the prizes (they were Bashkir, Tatar, Chechen and Yakut Wikipedia). And on the first day of the forum, immediately after its solemn opening, a rewarding was held in a special, new nomination - actually parallel to the “Free Knowledge” prize.

The “Free Knowledge” Award is awarded to NP Vikimedia Ru (simultaneously with Vicki Prime) to persons, projects and organizations who, not being active participants in the Vickmedia movement, contribute to the achievement of its goals-the dissemination of free knowledge.

Since 2014, the Laureates of the Free Knowledge Prize have become: the famous journalist and founder of the Internet publication “Private correspondent” Ivan Zasursky, the Association of Internet users (“For the organization of projects“ Time to change the copy ”and“ Roskomsvobod ”, as well as for organizing a roy against the“ anti-pirate ”law that collected 100,000 signatures”), a draft), a draft) “Cyberleninka”, the site “Heroes of the country” (many authors of which transferred the biographies they wrote to a free license), “Business magazine” (who opened the vacancy of the wiki resident), the Oral History Foundation, the Witness and Reporting Project Yuri Metheolkin and others.
In 2017, the Laureates of the Free Knowledge Prize became: researcher Andrei Galinichev and lawyer Dmitry Povlavsky, who achieved the right in the Supreme Court of Russia for everyone for everyone to relocate archival documents for their own equipment, the Internet Books, as well as the large regional news resource “Kaliningrad Region” (Kaliningrad Region), which transferred to a free license.
The definition of the winners of the “Free Knowledge” Prize takes place in two stages. First, all the wiki community puts forward candidates and a vote, according to the results of which a short list is formed. From this list, members of the Vikimedia ru select 3-4 laureates, taking into account the presented arguments. Winners are declared directly at the ceremony.
It is important to note that both the Wiki community and the partnership members are extremely scrupulous in relation to the legal and legal purity of the activities of applicants for the bonus, especially in terms of international copyright, and some widely known figures or projects were several times in a short list, but did not receive a premium. A striking example is the SCI-Hub project, which ended up in a short list in 2016 and 2017.
The trend towards the discrepancy between the two awards is preserved, and it cannot be ruled out that next year the wiki premium addressed to the wiki community, and the Free Knowledge Prize oriented out, will be handed separately. And then, instead of one holiday of free knowledge, we will get as many as two,-because, as the long-standing friend and permanent presenter of the Vicky-Builder Alexander Plyushchev says: “In the atmosphere, this is the most remarkable event in the world that I had to lead. Well, you reward people completely unique. ”
