
Today, May 10, a film critic, sociologist and culturologist Daniil Dondurea died in Israel. On May 19, he would be 70 years old.
This was announced by director Vitaly Mansky.
Daniil Borisovich Dondurey was born in 1947 in Ulyanovsk, graduated from the faculty of the theory and history of art of the Academy of Arts in Leningrad (1971), graduate school of the Institute of Sociology of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1975), candidate of philosophical sciences.
In 1975-1981 he worked at the Institute of Art History, in 1981-1986 - at the Research Institute of Culture of the RSFSR, in 1986–1993 - at the Institute of Cinema.
Since 1993, he was the editor -in -chief of the monthly scientific magazine "The Art of Cinema".
He headed the Commission on Cultural Rights, Education and Science in the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights under the President of Russia.
The author of scientific collections in the sociology of culture, theory and history of fine art, theater and cinema. Daniil Dondurey's works were translated and published in Bulgaria, Hungary, Vietnam, Germany, Italy, Cuba, Poland, Romania, USA, France, Czechoslovakia.
Laureate of the Prizes of the Union of Artists of the USSR, Literary Newspaper, magazines "Literary Review", "Change", "Decorative Art".
In 2016, Daniel Dondury was awarded the Nick Honorary Prize for contribution to cinematic sciences, criticism and education.
