Every self -respecting musician today seeks to have his own festival. Yuri Bashmet has fifteen of them; True, some are in Stand By mode, but the figure is still impressive. The largest, Sochi, the festival has just celebrated its decade , the second largest - the annual cultural forum in Yaroslavl - stands on the threshold of the first anniversary: from May 1 to 9, it took place for the ninth time. The historical appearance of the city, the cozy hall of the Philharmonic with good acoustics, the friendly audience fell in love with Bashmet and its guests. The festival is expanding, scattering disputes in the surroundings, but, as often happens, the number affects the quality. However, the format of the home regional event seems to be satisfied with everyone.
Nevertheless, the debugged mechanism of the festival machine is gradually overgrown with new details. This year, the program appeared in the program, where the founders of the Moscow Club of WAY2 ART Alexei Stebelov and Yuri Dashevsky pulled out the audience in the match. Not limited to the format of Likbez, the organizers brought to Yaroslavl the legendary professor of the Moscow Conservatory Ekaterina Mikhailovna Tsarev (our chief specialist in Brahms, the daughter of a great dramatic actor) and her three colleagues in order to hold a scientific conference on the history of musical romanticism in Austria and Germany - a magistral topic for the current festival. Scientifically approached the issue of playing wind instruments: on the day of the performance of the English ensemble London- Brass, almost ten speakers were versed in the intricacies of this difficult matter.
Those who have no time to visit the conferences, the Philharmonic suggested not to rush home after the concert (recalling with enthusiasm that “problems and care will not go anywhere”) and chat with the musicians. The call caused a surprisingly alive response, children and adults with enviable spontaneity asked the guests of the festival about everything in the world. It is a pity that such a meeting was not offered after the concert of the maestro Bashmet himself: the local audience loves him very much and is waiting, in the hall an unchanged full house (which can not be said about concerts without his surname in the poster), in the final - a standing navation.
But the Hungarian Rapsodia No. 2 of the sheet sounded like the music to Sikvel "Tom and Jerry in retirement."
However, the articulation of the festival almost every day acts as a soloist and conductor. At the opening, he brought the performance based on the “little prince” with Konstantin Khabensky, for the remote control of the “soloists of Moscow” and “New Russia” he has been carried out by two thematic programs, showing the works of Brahms, Schumann and Mendelsson surrounded by music of their contemporaries. The program of the concert on May 3 seemed to deliberately showed up: the story rightly offers the pedestal some and plunges others into oblivion-if the rather watery concerts of Clara Vick Shuman tried to rehabilitate the pianist Philip Kopachevsky, then the Hungarian violinist Peter Kovach buried the already uninteresting concert of Joseph Joachim with his game. But a great lesson in skill was taught by clarinetist Igor Fedorov and cellist Alexander Rudin, with a virtuoso brilliance, performing a concertustek Mendelssohn.
But in general, the programs were pleased just by the fact that there were more rarities in them than hits. In the concert of the chamber ensemble from Norway, “Tronheim's soloists”, which was repeatedly nominated for Grammy, only the name of Grieg is familiar to the general public. Included with the suite “From the time of Holberg” there were an excellent performance “Variations on the theme of Frank Bridge” by Britten, to the best of the pop composition “ Orawa” Poles Wojciech Kilyar, known for the soundtracks for the films of Polanski and Coppoles, as well as “ OSA” , the large suite of the young Geermund Larsen in a folk style. Together with his brother, he performed unpretentious folklore players on outlandish folk violins inlaid by pearl, so virtuoso and incendiary that yesterday’s performance of Kovach seemed a misunderstanding, the audience demanded bees and clearly tell those who did not buy a ticket for an unfamiliar name, how much they lost.
© Alexey MolchanovskyThe program of the British ensemble London- Brass , which first visited Russia, was not so successful. Having built a concert as a musical retrospective from Dauland to Duke Ellington and their contemporary of the Hart field, they overestimated the universality of the copper wind ensemble. The witty fanfares for the cathedral of St. Edmund »Britten and jazz theme“ Caravan ”is 100% their repertoire, Bach's suite impressed the virtuosiness of individual musicians, especially a tubist who cleverly blown away trioli in a quick gig. But the Hungarian Rapsody No. 2 of the sheet sounded like the music to Sikvel “Tom and Jerry in Retires”, “Variations on the Paganini topic” of Lutoslavsky, and in the original option for two piano, not distinguished by the transparency of the texture, turned into sound mess. However, an attempt to take up such inappropriate things can be touched by musicians for a feat.
The Norwegian and English guests were followed by the Day of Spain (works by Rodrigo, Lalo and de Fali performed by the Yaroslavl Symphony Orchestra by Alexis Soriano), the Gala concert of soloists on wooden wind instruments, together with the Finnish Crusell-festival, continued the German theme by Maxim Wengerov and Ksenia Bashmet. But maybe the most valuable part of the festival for the region is concerts in the surrounding cities and villages, where chamber ensembles with a variety of programs were sent. The village of Vyatskoye, for example, had an unpretentious evening with Mozart’s sabotage and Tchaikovsky’s “children's album”, but in Uglich, Ksenia Bashmet performed in a duet with Yuri Abramovich alty sonata Glinka and Brahms, and Solo played the plays of Glass, Naiman and Karmanov. Such a concert is interesting in Moscow to listen.
The festival ended on May 9. While the whole country sang songs of the war years, Bashmet was late in two days by Tchaikovsky Gala Laureates of the Pyotr Ilyich competition: Pianist Barry Douglas, Gustav Rivinius, violinist Nikolai Sachenko and the 2015 Bariton from Mongolia Ariunbaatar came to Yaroslavl at his invitation. Hanbaatar.
