In Spain, on May 12, hackers attacked one of the largest telecommunications companies, Telefonica, and a number of other organizations. This was reported in the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Technologies.
Access to files was blocked on infected computers and ransom messages appeared. It is reported that the personal data of customers as a result of the attack was not affected.
According to El Mundo, about 85 percent of computers in Telefonica were attacked. A company source told AFP that Telefonica's headquarters decided to shut down all computers after the attack.
According to unconfirmed reports, the attack comes from China, writes El Mundo.
On May 12 , it became known that at least 16 hospitals in the UK were subjected to a similar attack.
