On the night of May 13, the premiere of an opera-oratorio dedicated to Tolkien took place in the Moscow subway.

Closed preview of the oratorio “The Silmarillion. In Memory of Tolkien" was held at the Delovoy Tsentr metro station and was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 82nd anniversary of the Moscow Metro.
This piece of music was written by Mikhail Kostylev, and its peculiarity was that it was performed mainly “in Elvish” - a fictional language invented by the author of “The Lord of the Rings”. The performance was attended by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, three soloists and several hundred choristers, who were placed on the station's escalators.
Several tickets for the premiere were raffled off in the Moscow Metro community on VKontakte, and the event itself was broadcast online on the Moscow Mayor’s website. At the same time, guests and participants in the production published dozens of photographs and videos on social networks.
